Terms of Service

Please note: this is a template
This page contains an example structure for terms of service and has not yet been reviewed by an attorney. Have these terms reviewed and adjusted where needed by a California attorney before publication and use, so they match how Valley Fixers actually works and comply with applicable law, including California rules on contractor licensing, referrals and home improvement contracts.
No rights can be derived from the text below in its current form.
1. Definitions and scope
In these terms, "Company" means Valley Fixers, based in Los Angeles, California. "Client" means the homeowner or business that uses the Company's services. "Pro" means an independent professional from the Company's network: either a skilled independent handyman or a contractor licensed by the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB).
The Company is a free matching and coordination service for home repairs and small home projects. It is not a contractor and does not perform any repair, installation or construction work itself. These terms apply to your use of the website and of the Company's matching and coordination services, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2. What our service includes
The Company takes in your job request, checks which type of pro the job calls for, matches you with a vetted local pro from its network and stays your single point of contact until the job is done and checked.
The service is free of charge for the Client. Describing your job and being matched are free of obligation: you decide whether to move forward, and with whom.
3. Our role: matching and coordination, not the work itself
The Company does not itself perform any work at your home. All work is performed by independent pros. These pros are independent businesses, not employees, partners or agents of the Company.
Small jobs, meaning jobs where the combined cost of labor and materials stays under $1,000 and no building permit is required, may be performed by skilled independent handymen under California's minor work exemption (Business and Professions Code section 7048). Any job at or above that threshold, and any job that requires a permit, is performed exclusively by independent, CSLB-licensed contractors from the Company's vetted network.
The agreement for the work is formed directly between the Client and the Pro. The Company is not a party to that agreement. The Pro is responsible for the performance, quality and safety of the work.
4. Pricing and your agreement with your pro
Price indications on the website and on the pricing page are ranges, meant to give you a fair idea of what a job typically costs. They are not binding quotes. The Pro you are matched with confirms the fixed price for your specific job before the work starts.
For larger work, the details of the job are laid down in a written contract between you and the contractor, as required for home improvement work in California. Read that contract carefully before signing. You can verify any contractor's license through the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) at cslb.ca.gov.
5. Permits
Work that requires a building permit is only matched with CSLB-licensed contractors, and the permit is handled within your agreement with that contractor. The Company helps you keep track of the process but does not itself apply for permits.
The decision to issue permits and approve inspections rests with the local building department. Neither the Company nor the Pro can guarantee approval or the duration of governmental review.
6. Client responsibilities
The Client provides accurate and complete information about the job and the property, such as known defects or prior unpermitted work where relevant. Matching and price confirmation are based on this information.
During the job, the Client gives the Pro proper access to the property, makes decisions in time where needed and pays the Pro as agreed between them.
7. Warranty
Your job comes with a workmanship guarantee from your pro. The scope and duration of that guarantee are confirmed by the Pro before the work starts and, for larger work, stated in the written contract between you and your contractor.
The Company itself does not provide a warranty on the work, because it does not perform that work. Rights the Client has under California law, including rights as a consumer, remain fully in force.
8. Payment
The Company's matching and coordination service is free of charge for the Client. The Client never pays the Company for the work.
Payment for the work happens directly between the Client and the Pro, at the price the Pro confirmed. For larger projects with a licensed contractor, the schedule of payments is stated in the written contract before the work starts.
9. Liability
The Company selects pros for its network with care. For jobs that legally require a licensed contractor, the Company checks that the matched contractor holds a valid CSLB license at the time of matching. The final choice of pro is the Client's, and the Pro remains responsible for the work under the agreement between the Client and the Pro.
The Company is not responsible for damage resulting from incorrect or incomplete information provided by the Client, or from the acts or omissions of a Pro under the agreement for the work.
The scope of liability and any limitations must be defined during the legal review of this template, consistent with applicable California law.
10. Questions, complaints and disputes
If you have a question or complaint about the Company's service, let us know in writing or by email at info@valleyfixers.com, with a clear description, and we will look into it.
If you have a complaint about the work itself, raise it with your Pro under your agreement. Because we stay involved until the job is done and checked, we are happy to help you get it resolved. Contractors in California are licensed and regulated by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB), where complaints about a licensed contractor can also be filed.
These terms are governed by California law. How disputes are ultimately resolved must be defined during the legal review of this template; no arbitration clause applies unless one is agreed in writing.
